Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first female vice-president as well as the highest-ranking female official in the United American. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as the United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
