Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an television host, and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment in Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved from one job to the next throughout Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was struggling in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in several courses during her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
